10 Big WWE Returns That Could Happen In 2021

6. AJ Lee

How strange is it that the possibility of AJ Lee returning to WWE is so rarely discussed? The former WWE Divas Champion was one of the major figures behind the revolution in women's wrestling but she had left by the time her influence came to pass. Is it not likely that she would like to return and take on some of the women that took her baton and ran with it?

The CM Punk link is an obvious block but that didn't stop Lee succeeding at the end of her first run, which continued long after Punk had acrimoniously left the company. Even after Punk was officially fired on their wedding day, she continued to wrestle. Injuries put a stop to that in late 2014, with an official retirement announced in 2015.

Those injuries are not to be downplayed, Lee suffered permanent damage to her cervical spine in her career, the sort of injury that isn't to be trifled with, any many fans will hope that he retirement is that rarest of wrestling accomplishments: final.

All that aside, how strong is the temptation of a major match with Sasha Banks, a feud with Charlotte Flair, a showcase bout against Bayley and all the rest? Say it quietly, but there may well be more AJ Lee dream matches than any other retired WWE superstar. What price seeing one of those in 2021?

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
