5. Kassius Ohno

Ohno's theme song being called 'Hero's Welcome' is incredibly apt, and not just because of the ring name he used on the indies. One of the figures of greatest promise in the very beginning of NXT (or at least, NXT as a serious property), Ohno missed out on the opportunity to join the now-legendary Shield faction and was soon after dropped from the WWE entirely. After a few years of incredible work on the indies, Ohno has fought tooth and claw to regain his footing in NXT, making his return a moment of grand celebration.

Kassius mixes stiff strikes and power moves to form one of the widest and most impressive arsenals of moves in the currently packed NXT roster, and this versatility makes him a viable opponent for pretty much any heel you can think of. It definitely helps his popularity that he used this incredible moveset to permanently banish the despised Elias Samson from NXT altogether.

His recent pleas for Hideo Itami to retain his integrity add another likable layer to the character, as does the fact that he stands out due to not quite fitting into the mold of a conventional WWE fighter. Since his celebrated return, he's been a little bit usurped by other big names joining the brand, and while that could be damaging for his career prospects, if anything it actually makes you feel more sympathy for the guy.
