2. Johnny Gargano

It's a mystery how anybody could not feel sympathy for poor old Johnny Wrestling. Even before his recent betrayal, Gargano's strongest skill in the ring (which is saying something, because his all-round wrestling ability is difficult to match) is his proficiency at selling his opponent's offence, so he always looks like he's taking the beating of a lifetime.

DIY's gutsy, never-say-die attitude made them the most likeable, wholesome team in all of WWE when they were together. After how much plight Johnny suffered at Takeover: Chicago - be it throwing himself in front of Ciampa to willingly take the ladder shot for him, or his heartbreaking and sadistic betrayal by the same partner after failing to recapture the tag team belts - the man is as beleaguered and put-upon as it's possible for a wrestler to be. When he does return from his kayfabe injury, Johnny Gargano is going to be the mother of all underdogs.

His absence from screens right now does not mean that he is forgotten, and his return is eagerly awaited. There're only two guarantees that can be made for when his second coming does happen - that his eventual match with Ciampa will be an absolute barnstormer, and that he's going to be an even bigger fan favourite than ever before.
