One of Vince McMahon's current obsessions is developing what he calls WWE's 'entertainment eco system'. This is bigger than just television viewers and Network subscribers, it is more about unleashing WWE over as wide of a cultural spectrum as possible. Right now, that means growing the social media channels and developing YouTube video productions. It is an area WWE are already strong in. They're the sixth most social brand in the world, ahead of the NBA and NFL. But what does that really count for? NBA and NFL blow them away in most other areas. Likewise, the company boasts 8 billion video views in 2015, but does that really improve business? It arguably takes away from the television shows, and is a platform that is never going to be a home or secure riches for a company like WWE. Yet Vince remains intent on developing WWE in this overall eco system structure. He talked about it with incredible gusto during the latest WWE conference call. In his own mind, the social media numbers and YouTube figures really matter. He absolutely wants to expand them, perhaps believing it will lead to greater value in the future.
