WWE's touring business is still a huge factor in the success of Vince McMahon. It is one area of business that is at its core what his father and grandfather were doing on a smaller scale. While television, PPV and the Network came along and presented huge new opportunities, promoting live shows has and always will be a fundamental aspect of the professional wrestling business. However, it actually has little to do with content in the modern era. Fans buy WWE tickets without usually knowing so much as one match on the card. Key to the success of tours now is the brand drawing, rather than a wrestler or particular match drawing. Another factor in the increasing success of this business area is the fact that ticket prices have gone up. Attendances are roughly the same, but people are paying more, so WWE are earning more. Given the number of shows promoted each week and the continued popularity of attending a live event, with all the money involved from tickets and event merchandising this remains one of WWE's biggest business areas. The actual matches come secondary to the logistical and operational side of the business, and for most house shows it is just wrestlers going through the motions and doing their routine. Yet fans continue to pay ever-increasing prices to see it.
