3. Bobby Lashley
wikiA former national champion wrestler, Bobby Lashley's debut wasn't all that dramatic as he defeated jobber Simon Dean on Smackdown and then once again on pay-per-view. He was entered into a rather boring feud with Finlay and came out on the losing end to JBL. He received his first push when he was booked to win the ECW world title (which really didn't mean that much anymore) and entered into a feud with Vince McMahon. Lashley was selected by Donald Trump to be his representative against Vince McMahon in the Battle of the Billionaires at Wrestlemania 22. Trump introduced Lashley as a "a black gentleman" and seemed to have no idea who Lashley was. Nevertheless, Lashley was triumphant over Umaga at Wrestlemania and caused McMahon to get his head shaved. Vince gained some measure of revenge when he pinned Lashley for the ECW title in a handicap match in a big middle finger to whatever ECW fans were left watching the product (not many). He received one shot at John Cena for the world title on pay-per-view but was unsuccessful and was released from his WWE contract in February 2008. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivX-WSJ21Tk Lashley went from a showcasing match at Wrestlemania to an unceremonious release and never really clicked with the audience. McMahon never put the WWE world title on him (the ECW title doesn't count) but he was still a focal point of many of their television shows for an extended length of time. Recently, Lashley has resurfaced in TNA after a failed MMA career and captured the TNA world title from Eric Young. Hopefully his TNA run is a little more successful than his WWE stint.
