There was a time when the ‘Rabid Wolverine’ was constantly being praised by fans, commentators, and his peers, as one of the greatest wrestling technicians to ever set foot inside a wrestling ring. Benoit was an amazing wrestler who put on some of the best wrestling matches the world had ever seen.

In WWE, he was a multi-time champion, and he won the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event match of WrestleMania XX, which was one of the most heartwarming stories in WWE history. He demonstrated what hard work and sacrifice can lead to, and how a smaller wrestler who might lack charisma or promo ability could still reach the top of the mountain.

Sadly, all of that praise disappeared after the weekend of June 23rd to 25th, 2007.

When the gruesome details of the deaths of Chris Benoit, his wife, and son were revealed, WWE did away with everything Benoit-related. All videos, pictures, promos, likenesses, and direct references to Benoit were removed, and to this day he is not allowed to be mentioned and certainly not promoted.
