Eddie was always an entertaining wrestler, from his days as Black Tiger II in Japan, to the cruiserweight division of WCW, to his days on SmackDown, he was a highlight of whatever show he was on.

But despite his incredible skill and natural charisma, he carried with him an image of a ‘vanilla midget’, a great small wrestler who can’t draw. This perception came from WCW’s bigger stars (in both literal and metaphorical terms), who believed that having great workrate wasn’t enough to get someone to the World Title level.

Yet Eddie persevered like no one else. He overcame serious drug problems, turned his life around, and returned to WWE as popular as ever. Throughout 2002 and 03, Eddie was putting on outstanding wrestling matches with the other ‘SmackDown Six’ wrestlers, and he was one of the most entertaining personalities in WWE.

Inn 2004, Eddie showed the world just how good he truly was when he defeated Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship in one of the most emotionally-satisfying moments in WWE history. Eddie Guerrero, the small Latino wrestler whom most people believed was doomed to a career in the lower mid-card, was carrying the most coveted prize in all of pro wrestling.

That said a lot about his determination, skill, and overwhelming charisma. If there was anyone who truly deserved a WWE Title reign, it was Eddie.
