I don't know much about the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) other than that it sounds like a sport that should take place in a dark, underground barn in Castleford, but even I know who Ronda Rousey is. She was the woman who destroyed her opponents in a matter of seconds, leading to a macabre environment where baying spectators bayed for an individual to be knocked out or submit quicker and quicker and quicker. Then she lost, to someone who subsequently lost.

Fighting aside, Rousey is a big fan of what we all know and love here. She is known as 'Roudy' Ronda Rousey, a moniker that was indeed lifted with blessing from none other than the late 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper. Further blessing came when Rousey and three fellow fighters wished to refer to themselves as the Four Horsewomen, Arn Anderson and Ric Flair giving them the thumbs-up.

Rousey famously made an in-ring appearance alongside The Rock at WrestleMania 31, leading to speculation that she will make her way into pro graps when her MMA time is up.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
