Let's be very clear here: Women's wrestling does not draw in North America. In the 100 years since professional wrestling became an entertainment form on this continent, women's wrestling has never, ever drew money. It never has and it never will. Yes, the Japanese love their women's division. However, those workers have been presented as serious competitors for decades and their women's divisions typically consist of more than six girls fighting over one title. Buried in the seemingly endless three hour Raw episodes are the Divas. They are extremely lovely young ladies who I'm sure have endless amounts of charisma but their matches completely suck. As Shakespeare would say, "those matches doth really suck." Thanks to the Attitude Era and years of treating women's wrestling like a joke, the live crowds have been trained to only react to skimpy outfits and wardrobe malfunctions. Very few of these women can actually work a wrestling match and their offensive movesets consist of a few spots that they have rehearsed a thousand times. Like some of their male counterparts, some women have zero experience in wrestling and some never even watched wrestling in their entire lives. The Bella Twins in particular had absolutely zero knowledge of professional wrestling until their agent entered them in the Divas Search. Since the WWE machine looks for beauty first and wrestling ability 35th, you get stuck with a roster full of bleached blonde swimsuit models with no idea what they are doing. The segments on WWE television are terrible and garner absolutely zero new viewers to the product. It's time to return women to the manager/valet roles that they have filled in the past and admit that the Divas division is completely useless.
