10 Biggest Disappointments In WWE Elimination Chamber History
8. John Cena Main Events The 2012 Show
In 2012, John Cena was in the business of main eventing PPVs - regardless of whether he was a WWE or World Heavyweight Champion or not. Naturally, this rubbed some fans the wrong way. One of the biggest slaps to the face of fans arrived at that year's Elimination Chamber show.
On a card that saw a total of four Championships defended, two of which were World Title bouts staged inside the Chamber, somehow John Cena vs. Kane was given precedence over everything else that night. Not only that, but the match was saddled with an overly-contrived Ambulance match gimmick.
Admittedly, the match itself wasn’t necessarily that bad, aside from the multiple (that’s right, multiple) wheelchair spots. Either way, it didn’t feel worthy of headlining the PPV, especially when you consider the other matches on the card that were more deserving of that spot.
It’s instances like this, with WWE Champion CM Punk being relegated down the card, despite featuring in an Elimination Chamber match, that contributed to such vast swathes of the audience turning on the posterboy Cena.
