10 Biggest Disappointments In WWE Elimination Chamber History
9. Daniel Bryan Gets Screwed
Two years later and the tides had turned. It was now Daniel Bryan’s turn to fall at the final hurdle. In this case, though, it was hardly under the fairest of circumstances.
In the WWE Championship match at the 2014 event, Bryan and Randy Orton were the final two remaining in the Chamber. Countering an RKO, Bryan rebounded from the corner to hit his patented running knee and seemingly lay Orton out for the count.
Cue a timely intervention from Corporate Kane, who heaved the referee from the ring, buying Orton time to recover and nail the RKO. Somehow Bryan kicked out of that first one but, after another run-in from Kane, a second soon followed and Orton picked up the victory.
Looking back, you could argue that this finish was worth it in the end. Having been screwed out of the title at SummerSlam, Night of Champions, Battleground and Hell in a Cell, this was just another of many roadblocks that made Bryan’s eventual coronation at WrestleMania XXX all the more enjoyable.
Not that it felt that way at the time, though.
