10 Biggest Failed WWE Pushes

1. Nathan Jones

WWE appears to have been so excited at signing a purported ex-convict in Australian bodybuilder Nathan Jones that they fast-tracked him straight to SmackDown without giving him the time to learn his new craft.

The result, as one might expect, was a pretty dismal run largely remembered for his brief alliance with The Undertaker, who made Jones his "protege", despite only being about four years older than him. This was supposed to have resulted in a tag match against Big Show and A-Train at WrestleMania XIX, which was scrapped on the eve of the show.

The Aussie would later be criticised by Chris Benoit for not being hungry enough to make it at wrestling's highest level, which was perhaps inevitable given that he found himself rubbing shoulders with the industry's biggest names within just a couple of years of making his professional bow.

Jones retired from wrestling altogether a short while after leaving WWE at the end of 2003, since which time he's made a pretty good fist of things in Hollywood, including a turn in 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road. Who says crime doesn't pay?
