Now yes, there have been bigger moments to celebrate when it comes to Becky Lynch’s well deserved rise to the pinnacle of the wrestling world. However this one, during Hell in a Cell 2018, was perhaps the most important. Because at this time, the WrestleMania main event was a dream that had not even been conceived and Charlotte Flair was still very much the company’s chosen top female face.

In the build up to their title match, the narrative was clear; WWE would be doing everything in their power, and editing skills, to get the crowd to boo Lynch. Of course, nothing, not even humiliating Edge for his neck injuries, could get that to happen. The fans were at complete loggerheads with the company’s direction and as a result, there was justified skepticism.

However, give the devil its due. WWE heard our calls. Becky was awarded the championship, albeit in a tainted victory. And everyone who invested an ounce of emotion into all this was rewarded to the fullest extent. All the glass ceilings that would shatter afterwards, were made possible because of this vital victory. Thus, it certainly warrants its spot as one of the happiest moments for a WWE fan this decade.

After battling Galactus and pinning Hulk Hogan in the main event of Wrestlemania, I've taken a break from living in fantasy worlds, to focus on writing about them. I'm a comic book geek, a wrestling mark, a break dancer, and a scientist. One of those things may not be true.
