At the Royal Rumble in 2005, John 'Bradshaw' Layfield defended the WWE Championship against Big Show and Kurt Angle in a triple threat match. He came out successful that night, and carried the championship all the way through to WrestleMania 21 when he eventually lost to John Cena. All in all, his reign lasted 10 months.

One year later, JBL lost in under two minutes to one of the worst professional wrestlers in the history of WWE, The Boogeyman. The match came about after Boogeyman had bitten off Jillian Hall's mole in one of the worst segments I can remember.

The match itself saw JBL get a couple of blows in before missing a Clothesline from Hell and getting hit with a Pumphandle Slam. That was it, all over in the time it takes to brush one's teeth.

The reality was that despite the push he was getting, Boogeyman was simply so bad that he couldn't work a longer match at all. JBL went from defending a prestigious title against two legends to a sub-two minute loss to a guy eating worms.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
