If you weren't a fan at the time, it is really difficult to emphasise just how heated the Monday Night War was between WCW and WWF in the mid-1990's. Vince had sued WCW when they signed Kevin Nash and Scott Hall and overtly implied on air that they were still employees of the WWF who were invading WCW. Fast forward two years, and WCW were counter-suing the WWF, alleging, amongst other things, that over a two year period the WWF had systematically attempted to disparage WCW and its talent, that it was infringing WCW trademarks and that it was misleading the public with information about contracted WCW wrestlers and staff which implied that they were wanting to return to the WWF. The outcome? Well, that continued to post claim and counter claim over the next few years. And, as we all know, Vince bought what was left of WCW in March 2001, winning his ultimate revenge. Had one of these lawsuits found in favour of either company to a large financial degree before this then the wrestling landscape could have been even more different than it is today.
I am a teacher, but also write about all things wrestling. I have been writing/interviewing wrestling personalities for over 7 years for both the Wrestling Observer site, as well as The History Of WWE site.
