10 Biggest Lies In Wrestling

2. Sorry, No Relation!

Edge, Christian
WWE.com

My apologies to anyone who is unaware, but a few things must be stated: Kane and The Undertaker are not brothers. Neither are Edge or Christian. Eric Bischoff and Eugene aren’t nephew and uncle, Crash, Bob and Molly weren’t cousins, Katie Lea and Paul Burchill weren’t brother and sister, Fit Finlay and Hornswoggle aren’t father and son, Bubba Ray and D-Von and the other 30 people who used to be in the Dudleyz aren’t related to one another, and perhaps the saddest of all, James and Chad Dick were not brothers either.

Most fans can accept two wrestlers having a passing resemblance to each other being billed as brothers or cousins. They’ll just go along with the storyline, because why not? But on rare occasions, the fans greet these pairings with negatively, like The Von Erich’s suddenly finding their long lost cousin. But why do promoters keep making up families in this day and age? Perhaps brothers create more heat. Or maybe it’s just laziness. Yeah, probably just laziness.

There have been many legitimate brothers in wrestling over the years; just right now we have The Usos, The Young Bucks and The Hardys to name a few, but wrestling companies just keep on giving birth to them. We all know it’s not true, but it’s just something we’re going to have to continue to accept.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
