The WCW 'Invasion' of the WWF in 2001 is one storyline that repeatedly comes in for a serious amount of flak from wrestling fans, because it just didn't pan out the way that many people had hoped it would. For many fans, the angle was a license to print money, but the WWF instead seemed intent on making the incoming WCW talent look inferior.

At SummerSlam 2001, The Rock faced Booker T for the WCW World Title, and even though it was nice to see Booker be given another opportunity after management had been so low on his prior Raw match with Buff Bagwell, it was still a sorry sight to see him stripped of the belt so soon after entering the company.

Did The Rock really need to win the WCW World Title? It only further diluted the story being told, that WCW were a threat to the WWF, and it would have been better if Booker had emerged victorious, solidifying him as a major player. There was more to be gleaned from Booker T vs. The Rock, but the creative team decided to hot-shot the belt onto 'The Great One' quickly.
