10 Biggest Missed Opportunities In WWE Royal Rumble History

8. Bret & Owen As Co-Winners (1994)

Picture this: after Owen's vile heel turn on Bret earlier in the show, the two brothers enter the Rumble at different stages, and never lay a hand on each other. Both make it to the final four. After they send whoever over the top rope at the same time, in their respective ends of the ring, they turn around, and lock eyes for the first time in the match.

A good five minutes of magnificent chain-wrestling later, they eliminate each other simultaneously. The brothers co-win the Rumble. Both get a shot against Yokozuna at WrestleMania X, but to settle the tie, they still challenge each other to a one-on-one at the very same show. On the night, they have their glorious opening bout which Owen wins, but he comes up short against Yokozuna later on. Bret eventually wins the WWF Championship in the main event, setting the stage for the fratricide rematch at SummerSlam, this time with the title on the line.

What you have there is the best rivalry of 1994, in fact one of the best in WWE's history, expanded with a few more layers and a more rewarding arc for Owen, who gets to be a Rumble winner.

But, you probably wonder how Lex Luger factors in in all of this, right?

Yeah, he doesn't.
