10 Biggest Missed Opportunities In WWE Royal Rumble History

9. The Ultimate Runner-Up (1990)

The Rock Royal Rumble 2013

Consider these two possible endings to the 1990 Royal Rumble match.

1. The final six is Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Rick Rude, Mr. Perfect, Hercules and The Barbarian. The last two are quickly dispensed with. This leaves a final four of two babyfaces and two heels, who go at it tornado-tag style. After a bit, the WWF and Intercontinental champions get rid of their foes and initiate The Ultimate Face-Off: staredown, shoulder block, no sell, shoulder block, no sell, double clothesline, both men hit the ground. The Hulkster eventually eliminates the Warrior. The stage is set for WrestleMania VI, and both titles are elevated.

2. Same final six. As The Barbarian and Rick Rude are on the verge of eliminating Hogan, Warrior attacks them, saving his soon-to-be rival. Seconds later, the same two have Warrior over the top rope. Hogan returns the favour, but the move causes Warrior's elimination. The latter gets rightly called out for being an idiot by Jesse Ventura. Hercules eliminates Barbarian before getting eliminated by Rude. The two heels then manage to blow a two-on-one advantage as Perfect inadvertently (read: stupidly) facilitates Rude's elimination. Hogan hulks up after a Perfect Plex, hits a laughable slingshot catapult, throws Hennig out.

Which one do you think is better? Now guess which one actually happened.
