Will Cody Rhodes make an appearance at WrestleMania 38, or will it all merely be a case of, err, smoke and mirrors?

Ever since reports surfaced at the turn of the year to say Cody had been working in AEW without a contract since December, some speculated that the American Nightmare would end up making a shock return to WWE. Of course, Rhodes has since departed All Elite Wrestling and finds himself as the hottest free agent in the game, and thus those WWE return rumours have increased ten-fold.

By all accounts, Cody is set to land back in WWE imminently, with anyone and everyone presuming the three-time AEW TNT Champion will surface at WrestleMania 38.

Still, until Rhodes does step foot back in a WWE ring, it's all speculation, insider stories and educated guesswork - regardless of how likely it all seems.

That means that there are still question marks over whether Cody is back with WWE, whether he'll appear at WrestleMania 38, and then what exactly his role would be at 'Mania should he indeed make an appearance. All of which happens to nicely dovetail into this next mystery...
