10 Biggest Overselling In Wrestling

3. The Fingerpoke of Doom By Hogan And Nash

It was the first edition of WCW Monday Nitro of 1999. Earlier in the show, they had spoiled Raw's main event by telling people that Mankind was beating The Rock for the WWE Title in the main event of Raw, which was taped six days earlier. As you probably know, that led to fans tuning into Raw to see the title change. The WCW strategy of giving away results backfired. Kevin Nash was the WCW Champion (after screwing Goldberg a few weeks earlier) and he was going to defend the title against Goldberg, but they said he had stalked Elizabeth, so Goldberg was busy getting investigated by the cops. Nash offered the title shot to Hogan even though Hogan had retired about a month earlier. Hogan accepted although he only had his street clothes with him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhS4ZDnRqJQ The "match" was really short as Nash shoved Hogan into the corner. Then Hogan came back with a fingerpoke to the chest. Nash fell down to the mat as if he was hit by some hard object. Hogan covered. He won the match to become the new WCW Heavyweight Champion. After the match, Hogan and Nash hugged along with Scott Hall & Scott Steiner as they celebrated the reformation of the New World Order. Goldberg showed up to fight them off, but Lex Luger ended up turning heel to join the NWO as well.
