When news broke that Kurt Angle was being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, it marked his first involvement with the company that made him a star in more than a decade. Angle was the headliner at the ceremony, then made an appearance at WrestleMania, and that was it for his advertised appearances.

The evening after WrestleMania 33, though, Vince McMahon came out on Raw to address the fact that the show was without leadership - not only had Stephanie McMahon been injured at the show of shows, but she had fired Mick Foley a couple of weeks earlier. So with the vacuum in mind, McMahon announced the new general manager of Raw - Kurt Angle.

It's true, Angle's appointment wasn't the most out-of-left-field shocker, as many fans had predicted that he'd be filling Foley's shows. Still, actually seeing the one of a kind character that is Kurt Angle return to a regular role on WWE TV made for huge news, and it will likely shake up the company for a long time coming.
