6. Shawn Michaels Beating Davey Boy Smith In The UK

The WWF European Title was created in February, 1997. The British Bulldog was the first champion, defeating Owen Hart in a tournament final held in Germany. At first, the belt was treated as prestigious, which is likely why one Shawn Michaels wanted it around his waist. Bret Hart notes in his book that Davey Boy Smith, his fans and his family were left despondent by what happened later that year. In September, the World Wrestling Federation crossed the Atlantic to host 'One Night Only'. The special, one-off event took place in Birmingham, England and was a SKY Box Office exclusive.
