For wrestlers all around the world, the pinnacle of their careers is winning a championship. Whether it be the a midcard title at your local indie company or the WWE Championship in the main event of WrestleMania, these moments are so special because carrying a championship means something. Both for the prestige it brings in kayfabe, as well as the backstage decision of rewarding deserving talent. Unfortunately that has not been the case for many of WWE's champions.

Shinsuke Nakamura has held the Intercontinental Championship since 13 August and has defended it once, and that was in September. The Intercontinental Championship, historically one of the most prestigious titles in all of wrestling, has not been defended in five months. The contendership for the Raw Tag Team Championships have being decided over a Spelling Bee, Scooter Race and Quiz Bowl. As previously stated, there are no contenders for the Women's Tag Team Titles. Even the 24/7 Championship, which was built on the idea of being defended everywhere, is now a prop for Dana Brooke.

All around the globe, championships mean something in professional wrestling. They are supposed to symbolize reaching the peak of an industry we all love, and they should be treated as such.
