With the golden era of the 80s, you had Hulk Hogan. With the Attitude Era of the 90s you had Steve Austin and The Rock. Finally, with the PG era that began technically in 2008, although had been slowly coming into play since 2005, you had Cena. In between, you had times of transition when it felt WWE was struggling to identity what it wanted to be. The mid-90s was one example. This is another. Roman Reigns- the man hand-picked to be the successor to John Cena's throne- has begun to be moulded into his image, with Vince McMahon seemingly unaware of the fact that Reigns doesn't suit it at all. Imagine, if you will, Steve Austin taking his vitamins and saying his prayers, brother. If Reigns is to be the 'next John Cena', WWE must first realise that he should not be the next John Cena. Rather, he should be the first Roman Reigns, and once he has become Roman Reigns, the image of the product can reflect him.
