8. That Backstage Fight With Chris Jericho
Jericho spent the latter part of his WCW run chasing a match with Bill Goldberg that would never happen. Despite Jericho’s efforts to build a feud out of nothing on TV, and his apparent willingness to show ass for “Da Man”, Bill didn’t think Chris was on his level. So it must have been extra humiliating when Jericho got the upper hand over the big guy in a real-life backstage tangle.
Goldberg had barely been in the company five minutes when the previous bad blood between the pair led to a full-blown locker room confrontation at Goldberg’s first ever Monday Night Raw. Allegedl, Bill was badmouthing Jericho’s work and Kevin Nash was quick to let “Y2K” know about it.
After Nash stirred things up he apparently sat back and enjoyed the show as a verbal argument escalated into violence. By all accounts, Jericho got the best of things by grabbing a front facelock and hanging on for dear life.
The two patched things up and even ended up finally getting a match together but it must have been a pretty embarrassing moment for Goldberg and a terrible first impression to make on his Raw colleagues. Plus, it can’t feel good knowing that this story still does the rounds to this day.
