10 Biggest Regrets From Triple H's WWE Career
4. Tearing His Quads
This one’s not an example of ego or bad booking, it’s just an unfortunate incident, but Triple H must assuredly regret this. During a Raw match in 2001, he took on Chrises Jericho and Benoit alongside erstwhile-Two Man Power Trip cohort Steve Austin. During the exceptionally good match, Helmsley managed to tear his quad muscle. Incredibly, he finished the match, but that was him on the shelf for eight months.
This effectively put an end to the Two Man Power Trip, the unexpectedly enjoyable union of two lifelong foes, and saw HHH miss out on the business end of the WCW Invasion angle. Now, while the latter did eventually end up being a squandered opportunity, it remains one of the biggest stories in wrestling history, and one WWE company man (and brief WCW staffer) Triple H would surely have wanted to be part of.
Injuries are part and parcel of a wrestler’s life, though, and while Triple H did miss a decent chunk of time, he returned to a hero’s welcome at the 2002 Royal Rumble, which he won, sealing a headline spot at WrestleMania. Now, how did that work out again..?
