10 Biggest Stories From IMPACT's Slammiversary And What They Mean Going Forward

8. Tessa Blanchard Shines In First Major Match

IMPACT has highlighted female competitors for some time — frankly, since long before the WWE’s so-called Women’s Revolution. With that, one of wrestling’s hottest rising female stars is Tessa Blanchard. The third generation competitor has wrestling lineage and genetic talent on her side, and has quickly become a force in the Knockouts division. She briefly feuded with former champ Madison Rayne, but was unsuccessful in her quest to defeat the veteran star. Still, her in-ring prowess and downright mean temperament has been on display since her debut.

Unfortunately for her opponent, Tessa’s pedigree and tenacity couldn’t be overcome at Slammiversary. Blanchard utilized a wealth of rough strikes and powerful maneuvers, showcasing her incredibly aggressive style. At one point though, it seemed Allie would steal a win as she prepared to drive Blanchard into the mat with an Allie Valley Driver. However, Tessa was able to wiggle away before hitting a hammerlock DDT to end the match.

With skill and lineage on her side, Tessa Blanchard will certainly be looking to put her tools to the test against the current Knockouts Champion. Undoubtedly, her day will come, but while she was able to quell Allie’s advances on Sunday, the feud between the two may not be quite finished. Perhaps Tessa will have to again silence Allie before she can move on with her championship aspirations, but the fact is that the Knockouts title will eventually find its way into Blanchard’s hands.
