10 Biggest Stories From IMPACT's Slammiversary And What They Mean Going Forward

7. Tommy Dreamer Passes The Torch

Eddie Edwards was once one of IMPACT Wrestling’s most beloved stars. Ever since Sami Callihan’s vicious attack which led to a broken orbital bone, however, Edwards has fallen from grace. The former TNA World Champion pushed his family and friends aside in his quest for revenge which went largely unrealized. When ECW veteran Tommy Dreamer made his return to IMPACT, it was in the hopes of helping Eddie rather than aiding in his hunt for vengeance. Dreamer knows better than anyone how consuming such a quest can be as he long suffered from his years-long feud with Raven. However, Eddie felt disrespected by the attempt to help and viciously attacked Tommy.

At Slammiversary, the two men brawled and battled in a hardcore contest that saw Edwards emerge victorious. Shockingly, Dreamer’s signature Death Valley Driver through a table wasn’t enough to put Eddie away. Instead, the deranged Edwards delivered a knee strike to a chair into Tommy’s face, leaving him bloody. Fortunately, a reconciling took place after the match as Dreamer looked poised to strike, but instead he offered the kendo stick to Eddie in a show of respect.

Perhaps Edwards can focus on capturing IMPACT’s World Championship rather than hunting down Callihan. It’s been years since Eddie held the strap but he may be just the man to finally dethrone Austin Aries. The two have faced off countless times before, whether it was in tag team or singles action in both IMPACT and ROH. Eddie Edwards seems to have finally reacquired his focus thanks to Tommy Dreamer and may now look to regain the World Championship.
