Toru Yano is synonymous with cheating, and while fully capable, is not necessarily known for his big match triumphs. However, this year's G1 showcased just that for the devious CHAOS member. While Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi are undoubtedly elite class stars, both men were done in by Yano. Perhaps most surprising was that it took 'YTR' less than 10 minutes to defeat each golden opponent.

Of course, as is frequently the case with Toru, neither victory was without controversy. He made sure to use of all of his trademark tactics in order to defeat Kota during the tournament's fourth night - low blows, stripped turnbuckle pads, and even binding Ibushi’s wrists with tape. While that victory may have been cheap, it was arguably earned - a statement which could not be made for his win over Kenny Omega. That win was decided thanks to the interference of Omega’s rival Tama Tonga.

Still, the record books show that Toru Yano, however unlikely, holds victories over both members of the Golden Lovers tandem. With that, perhaps Toru Yano will attempt to sharpen his focus and even increase his controversial schemes in order to secure a future shot at Omega’s belt.
