10 Biggest Stories From NWA 70 (And What They Mean For The Company's Future)

9. Legendary NWA Champions In Attendance

The National Wrestling Alliance’s history may have been faulty in recent years, but there’s no question that it has a long and deep lineage. As such, there were a number of former NWA Worlds title holders and Hall of Famers on hand in Nashville, Tennessee.

One of the Alliance’s most respected and longest reigning champions, Dory Funk Jr., was briefly interviewed about idolizing his father who held numerous titles in the organization and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2013. Mexico’s Blue Demon Jr. also appeared and stated that he's angling for another shot at the belt down the line. Recent WWE Hall of Fame inductee Jeff Jarrett kicked off the finals for the new National title, which was presented to the eventual winner by Magnum TA. More recent Worlds Champions Jax Dane, Tim Storm, and Colt Cabana were also at ringside for the night’s main event between Nick Aldis and Cody.

The attendance and involvement of so many figures from the NWA’s past lent an air of authenticity to the night’s proceedings and served as a keen reminder of the organization's rich history.
