10 Biggest Talking Points From WWE SmackDown (Aug 9)
4. Slater Haters
Another week, another rough go of it for Heath Slater. The former Tag Team Champion wasn't drafted by Raw or Smackdown, and he's since been trying to win a job with whichever brand will have him. Last week, he appealed to Daniel Bryan, who said he could have a spot on Smackdown if he beat Rhyno.
Slater wanted Rhyno to let him win, but that wasn't about to happen. During their actual match, Slater tried to cheat his way to victory, but he got caught and soon fell victim to the Gore. After the match, Slater complained to Bryan and Shane McMahon before storming out - and missing the fact that Bryan actually had a contract he wanted him to sign.
Apart from the logical fallacy of Slater - who's employed by neither brand - getting more TV time on Raw and Smackdown than just about anybody else, this has been an entertaining angle. I don't expect it to end yet, though, as EVOLVE Wrestling has been teasing that Slater will be debuting for the promotion. There's still mileage in the storyline.
