7. Who Was Meant To Debut At Full Gear 2020?

In a since-deleted video uploaded to AEW's official YouTube channel, the promotion, ahead of Full Gear 2020, teased a debuting name.

Following a highlight reel of the names that had signed throughout that year - featuring, among others, FTR and Miro - the latter asked "Who is going to create the next big moment?"

The heavy implication was that a big free agent debut was set to unfold at the show, and while the wonderful Gangrel did make a cameo, during the Elite Deletion cinematic match between Matt Hardy and Sammy Guevara, respectfully, that probably isn't what AEW had in mind. The show proceeded with no huge arrival, and it didn't scan as a disappointment nor false advertising because the promotional material was abandoned almost as quickly as it was produced. Very few people remember even seeing what was never aired on television.

So what happened, exactly?

Gauging by the timeline, it was probably Sting: he debuted just under a month later, at Winter Is Coming, in an incredible moment that made fitting use of the wintry aesthetic and atmosphere.

Unless Khan had Goldberg and it fell through, or something, it may well be the case that the deal hadn't quite come together in time.
