6. Why Does Miro Keep Disappearing?

All seemed fine between Miro and All Elite Wrestling for the first year of his tenure.

Miro was glowing with his praise of AEW, which he fell hard for at his debut taping. On Twitch, he raved about a "five star match" he was privileged to watch between Hangman Page and Frankie Kazarian.

His 'Best Man' gimmick was atrocious, but as the aptly-named Redeemer, Miro and his genuinely unsettling God Complex tore through the TNT title division. His superb matches took on a different tenor to the rest of AEW programming, and his kayfabe weak spot - the neck - was a very neat means of building drama within his excellent reign. He was as acclaimed as anybody during that summer of 2021, which is really saying something: that was one of the best runs on which any promotion has ever embarked.

The extent to which Miro was lauded may well have fractured the relationship forever.

Miro rightfully saw himself as a major star, but Khan didn't see Miro as a World champion - if he did, he'd have strapped him up and there'd be no issues, surely. Miro, at least according to the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, rejected creative plans that involved losing a battle royal to Hangman Page in late 2022. Miro disputed this.

Who knows where the truth lies, honestly. It would seem that AEW and Miro are far apart on where he should be positioned, and this impasse has resulted in a very sporadic run. Miro only does so much before simply vanishing again. He defeated Andrade el Idolo at Worlds End, but wasn't seen for weeks and weeks afterwards.

Is that because there's nowhere for him to go - the main event Khan won't put him in, nor the uppercard Miro feels he's above?
