Since the talented Candice LeRae signed to NXT, she has been misused. In over two and a half years on the brand, LeRae has been booked as just Johnny Gargano’s wife and has only had one real opportunity (against Io Shirai at Takeover Toronto) to excel as the babyface sensation that she’s capable of being.
Since turning heel alongside her husband in April 2020, Candice hasn't been given as many opportunities as her husband to make an impact on the brand. Yet, despite creative hesitations, LeRae has surpassed her husband as a heel completely and is one of the division's most essential forces going forward. She helped Mia Yim achieve her potential as a brawler with a great rivalry earlier this year, she's only gotten better on the mic and has committed thoroughly in all aspects of presentation to her new character.
It's essential that Candice turns back to being a babyface at some point in the future, but she has made the most out of everything she's been given and is one of WWE's most valuable players right now. Thankfully, she will be getting her overdue spotlight as a heel at TakeOver 31 with Io Shirai.
