10 Biggest Unsung Wrestling Heroes Of 2020
6. John Silver - AEW
No matter your opinion on the use of comedy in wrestling, it’s pretty clear that John Silver is an entertaining dude.
‘The Meat Man’ has provided some much-needed levity this year on AEW’s Being The Elite, having tense ‘flip the water bottle’ contests and inciting dance-offs for the honour of joining Mr. Brodie Lee’s stable. Silver’s endless exploits have earned him more opportunities for television time, as well as cult status with the Twitter crowd, and, after being awarded a pay-per-view match for his hard work at Full Gear 2020, John Silver celebrated by being the first person to tear Orange Cassidy’s pockets out of his jeans and eat them.
At any point that he is given time on Dynamite, Silver is working. At AEW’s 2 December Winter is Coming, Silver, in his ten seconds of pre-battle royal screen time, was bobbing and weaving, staring at the camera like it was Apollo Creed. The week before, on the 25 November Dynamite, Silver was showing off some serious snap German Suplexes a la Taz, working a crisp and perfectly timed match with ‘Hangman’ Adam Page. Does John Silver have massive bulging muscles? Yes. Can John Silver do pretty much everything and make it entertaining? Yes.
