3. John Cena
John Cena defended his U.S. Championship against former NXT Champion Kevin Owens in yet another classic. This had the same feel as the previous bouts where both guys where hitting anything and everything they could on each other over and over.
Many finishers, multiple times, kickout after kickout. The selling lacked at times but it was still a ton of fun to watch. If I had to assign a star rating I'd probably say it was right at 4 stars. The two previous encounters were more around the 4.5 area for me so I do think that this was the lesser of the trilogy. Four stars is still amazing, though.
John Cena vs. Kevin Owens has been the feud of the year so far and I hope that Owens walking away as the loser of it doesn't leave a sour taste in everyone's mouth. Owens just came off of a fantastic string of matches and is now a bonafide star to the WWE masses. He was a complete unknown to many of them before...he's better off now.
Cena not only kept his title with this win but he can also continue offering his U.S. Open Challenge week in and week out. Surely that's a win for all of us.
