There’s no doubt that Lita and Trish Stratus elevated women’s wrestling in the post-Attitude Era, and, in December 2004, their heated feud took them all the way to the main event on Raw.

At the Survivor Series, their match had ended in a disqualification when Lita hit Trish in the face with a steel chair, breaking her nose, and in the process, showing that both women were willing to get just as violent as the men

Less than a month later, on a Monday night in Charlotte, North Carolina, a heel Trish Stratus walked out in a 1995 Undertaker-esque face mask to take on her real life best friend Lita and make history. It was clear early on that these two were going to pull out all the stops, as Lita attempted a suicide dive on Trish, nearly ending her own career with a botched landing. But the women still managed to put on a highly competitive match, with Lita even pulling off a top rope superplex.

In the end, it was a moonsault from daredevil Lita which won earned the pinfall, giving her a second reign as Women’s Championship and earning her (and Trish) a ton of respect from fans.
