10 Biggest WrestleMania 33 Missed Opportunities

3. Jericho & Owens’ Lack Of Heat

Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens had one of the best built rivalries ahead of Mania. Their “best friends” act was always one of Raw’s biggest highlights, and when KO eventually betrayed Y2J, it was a huge moment. He had effectively cut one of Raw’s most entertaining performers off at the knees, and when Jericho cost Owens the Universal Title at the Royal Rumble, they looked set for a classic WrestleMania bout.

Unfortunately, Jericho vs. Owens was one of the night’s biggest disappointments. It was a perfectly acceptable exhibition match, but the duo put forth the kind of performance you’d expect on a random house show. There was little sign of their apparent hatred at all, and while the apron Powerbomb and fingertip spots were memorable, there was little else to be excited about.

Kevin and Chris could have stolen the show had the worked to the feud’s bile and venom, but they didn’t. Perhaps they’ll clash again, but WrestleMania should have been the ultimate payoff, and it wasn’t. Sadly, the duo dropped the ball last Sunday evening, and left fans wondering what could have been.
