10 Biggest WrestleMania Regrets WWE Must Have

4. Chris Benoit Closing WrestleMania 20 As Champion

Outside of WWE, one of the most praised matches in WrestleMania history is the Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Championship between then-champion Triple H, Shawn Michaels€and Chris Benoit. Unfortunately, in WWE€™s own historical records, the match is often ignored due to the ramifications of mentioning Benoit in any way. Ever since Benoit€™s death and the surrounding controversy have surfaced, WWE has acted like he never existed, with a few exceptions on the WWE Network and in title history pages. This has been done in the name of damage control, especially since WWE is more sensitive than ever to public scrutiny and criticism. As such, it wouldn€™t be surprising for at least some members of WWE€™s top brass to have regrets over pushing Chris Benoit. A lot of people didn€™t think he deserved it, as he wasn€™t the complete package that WWE looks for in their top stars. Yet they saw him as a tremendous worker and great technician, who had worked incredibly hard, and someone finally said, €˜Benoit€™s a good worker; he deserves this.€™ While no one could€™ve predicted that Chris would€™ve done what he did back then, there must certainly be some people who regret having invested so much in him, only for him to become nothing more than a footnote in the annals of WWE history.
