The importance of the signing of Mike Tyson to act as the special guest enforcer during the Shawn Michaels versus Steve Austin WWF Championship main event at WrestleMania XIV cannot be undersold. Tyson's signing was the beginning of the tide swinging in favour of the WWF in its battle with rival organisation WCW as it received an abundance of mainstream coverage and helped to make the WWF seem 'cool' again as the Attitude Era was in its infancy. Tyson was a huge draw in the boxing world and people were intrigued to see what he would do in the wrestling ring. The first Tyson and Austin confrontation, on the Raw following the Royal Rumble, was an iconic moment in professional wrestling history. Vince McMahon came out to, essentially, show off his new acquisition.
