10 Biggest WWE Creative Mistakes Of 2018 (So Far)

4. Nicholas

It’s great that a 10-year-old child got to make the memory of a lifetime at WrestleMania 34, but to use this as a way of dismissing all complaints surrounding the Nicholas situation is daft. This isn’t a zero-sum game. One can be happy for the kid and accept that him becoming a Raw Tag Team Champion was a creative disaster, because it absolutely was.

It dealt untold damage to the belt’s prestige, and the gold hasn’t been the same since. There’s also the small matter of The Bar, an excellent tag team, losing what was effectively a four-minute handicap match to Braun Strowman. On top of all this, wasting the mystery partner reveal on a referee’s son was wholly unsatisfying. WWE had the opportunity to bring back a face from the past, or debut a new NXT star alongside Braun, both of which would’ve drawn a good pop. Instead, they went with the worst possible option.

It’s hard to imagine that WWE did this out of kindness, so why tank an entire division in one single moment? The belts have never felt lower than they did at ‘Mania.
