10 Biggest WWE Creative Mistakes Of 2020 (So Far)
3. The Viking Jesters
Whether it be as War Machine or War Raiders, Hanson and Rowe were one of the most formidable and decorated tag teams in wrestling with tag team championship reigns all over the world.
But in true WWE fashion, they couldn’t just showcase this well travelled and established act, oh no, they had to change nearly everything about them once they got called up to the main roster. No longer were they Hanson & Rowe, now they are known as Erik & Ivar of The Viking Raiders.
In hindsight, this repackaging is a fairly minor issue when compared to what’s happened in recent weeks. The hard-hitting, intimidating tag team began appearing in segments a couple of months ago that saw them singing stupid songs in a car and eating turkey legs. These types of promos eventually led to whatever the hell their ‘match’ with the Street Profits was at Backlash.
Initially, their feud with the Street Profits began with Bianca Belair (remember her?) warning Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins that they need to get serious if they want to prevent the Viking Raiders from taking their Raw Tag Team Titles. That somehow led to weeks of bad comedy skits featuring the two teams competing in challenges such as basketball and axe throwing.
This might not be so bad if the vignettes were funny, but the ‘comedy’ is so bad and just serves as a waste of a uniquely talented tag team.
