10 Biggest WWE Rematches Ever

7. CM Punk vs John Cena - SummerSlam 2011

CM Punk and John Cena wrestled the match of 2011 (and one of the finest in recent wrestling history) at Money In The Bank, the high point of the "Summer of Punk" angle which saw him walk out of the company with the WWE Championship in his possession. He took a short while off, but was brought back relatively quickly to face Cena, who had been crowned as the new "official" champion in his absence. A unifying match was set for SummerSlam. Unfortunately, despite being one of the most hyped rematches in modern wrestling, Cena vs Punk II must be remembered as a failure. It didn't live up to the quality of their initial encounter, but was entirely passable; the main gripe fans had was with its awful booking. Not only was Triple H unable to resist forcing himself into the storyline as special guest referee, he also counted Punk's pinfall when Cena's foot was under the ropes - cheapening his win needlessly. The worst was yet to come. In the match's aftermath, Kevin Nash (of all people) ran in from the crowd and laid Punk out, allowing Alberto Del Rio to cash in his Money In The Bank contract and win the title.
