The third match of an epic WrestleMania trilogy, Rock and Austin saw the face/heel dynamic of their original feud restored. Rocky was about to leave Hollywood, and as such had turned into an insufferably arrogant heel. Austin was the perfect man to teach him a lesson, having triumphed over Rock at two previous 'Manias. The poignant tone was set by a pre-match Rock promo in which he seemed deliberately off-key, cracking a bunch of unfunny jokes and ending with a wistfully unfinished version of his catchphrase: "Finally! Finally...". The match itself was typically great, both men pulling out all the stops to win in what turned out to be the last match of either man's career as a regular member of the WWE roster. Rock finally captured his elusive win over the Texas Rattlesnake after three successive Rock Bottoms, a finish which made both men look strong, thus completing a fitting and emotional curtain call for both wrestlers.
