5. Hulk Hogan vs Andre The Giant - The Main Event, February 5th 1988
In terms of sheer enormity, Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant's rematch must be considered one of the biggest - referring to both Andre's legendary size and the viewing figures this bout drew. This match attracted a reported 33,000,000 viewers, unimaginably huge numbers and a testament to wrestling's immense popularity at the time. The match quality was understandably lacking - neither man is renowned as a top worker from a pure wrestling perspective - but drama was high throughout. A questionable ending saw referee Dave Hebner count the pinfall for Andre despite Hogan kicking out at one and a half. In the post-match confusion, a second Dave Hebner ran down to ringside, revealing the match official to be an imposter (actually Dave's twin, Earl). It led to a convoluted "evil twin" storyline, one which actually fit in relatively well in the wacky 1980s wrestling landscape. Although nowhere near the stature of their original match at WrestleMania 3, Hogan and Andre's follow-up bout is an often overlooked giant in its own right.
