When: SummerSlam 2010

What Happened: Onto something a little different.

Wade Barrett's Nexus faction dominated WWE's product in the summer of 2010. "You're either Nexus or against us" sounded a bit daft, but it was a punchy catchphrase that helped catapult Barrett's motley crew into headline positions on major shows like SummerSlam.

Then, unbelievably, John Cena ran roughshod over the whole thing and stomped Nexus out like someone had dropped a blazing bag of dog sh*t on his doorstep. Cena's "Team WWE" partners were all eliminated when he took a Barrett DDT outside the ring, then miraculously healed in time to pin both Wade and Justin Gabriel seconds later.

It was a ludicrous decision to job Nexus out, and everyone knew it. The stable's momentum was stopped dead on the pay-per-view, and they'd never recover despite lasting into 2011 and getting a spin off (The Corre). This was babyface power-madness at its worst, especially because JC had no-sold being dropped headfirst onto concrete.
