10 Biggest WWE Superstars Never To Headline WrestleMania

1. Ric Flair

The fact that Ric Flair has never headlined a WrestleMania is probably one of the biggest oversights in the history of the event. The Nature Boy's first stint in the WWF admittedly only spanned on potential 'Mania to compete in ('Mania 8, headlined by the ill-fated Hulk Hogan vs Sycho Sid encounter, in which Papa Shango caused a DQ finish), but a man of his once-in-a-generation ability should surely have been propelled to the top of the card. He did compete at that event - the blow-off of an incredibly intense WWF Championship feud with Macho Man Randy Savage - but the title match was bumped down the card for the increasingly outdated Hogan. A chance was squandered, one Vince McMahon would never really have again. The next time Flair arrived in the company he was 52 and far beyond his prime. Most Likely Opponent: Hulk Hogan. The biggest feud in wrestling at the time was limited to a house show run, before it was axed due to reportedly bad reviews from WWF higher-ups. The thought of this nowadays seems outrageous, especially as Flair was a recent arrival from WCW, inflammatorily declaring himself to be 'the real world champion'. A champion vs champion encounter was surely a no-brainer, but never materialised for whatever reason. It's easily a big enough match to occupy the top spot at 'Mania, and its absence from any WWE PPV remains a mystery to this day.
