10 Bizarre WCW Stats, Facts And Coincidences That Really Happened
9. Randy Savage Always Dropped The Belt To Hogan Or Flair
Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage had a storied career and was one of the most legendary pro wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of boots. He had a total of 29 championship reigns with 11 different titles during his illustrious career. The biggest of them all being the WWF World Heavyweight Championship, which he won twice, and the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, which he captured 4 times.
What’s eyebrow-raising about those title reigns though is that Savage lost them to either Hulk Hogan or Ric Flair, in the WWF and later WCW. Flair is regarded as the greatest wrestler of the ‘80s and Hulk being the most popular wrestler of that decade. So if Savage was going to drop the belt, there are no better candidates than these two.
Savage famously lost his first WWF title to The Hulkster at WrestleMania V and his second time with the title to The Nature Boy on Prime Time Wrestling. Then after Savage, Hogan and Flair jumped ship to WCW, the trend continued with Savage losing his first two WCW World Championship reigns to Ric Flair at Starrcade: World Cup of Wrestling and SuperBrawl VI and then losing his final two reigns to Hollywood Hogan on episodes of Nitro.
